OUR WEEKEND - SWITCHING TO A TODDLER BED, OR NOT

On Friday evening we decided to take a quick walk to the shops to get a few bits and bobs. We took Indie in her pram and because it was so close to her bedtime we put her in her pyjamas and slippers and a coat and off we went. It was just our luck that as we were leaving she really wanted to get out of her pram; we ended up putting her little pink reins on and Daddy walked her home. She walked further than she has ever walked and ran up hills (in her slippers of course). She loved it, stopping to touch and show us everything.

On Saturday hubby decided it was time to take the side off of Indie's cot and start her transition into her toddler bed.

It was a lovely idea at first and she went down for her afternoon nap like a champ, fell asleep instantly and slept for two hours.

All was going really well and at bedtime she happily jumped in and drank her evening bottle.

We were a little apprehensive about bedtime because the bed guard that we bought didn't fit her cotbed so we couldn't stop her from rolling out of bed, and lo and behold about an hour after she went to sleep we heard a thud and ran in to find Indie on the floor very confused. Hubby grabbed the Allen Key and put the side back on the cot. We're hoping to retry another night, when we have bed guard that fits! We're gutted because she was doing so well but her safety is paramount.

On Sunday we had a bit of a lazy day at home and just played. Sometimes it's nice to just do nothing together. We laid and watched cartoons, did some drawing and colouring, built a few castles and had lots of cuddles. It's the simple things in life.

What did you do this weekend?

  1. Aw sounds like a good weekend. We didn't have a bed guard for L's bed when we first removed the railings. We rolled towels up and put them under the bed sheet and stacked them up, It was a temporary fix but it worked. It sounds like you won't have any issues though when the time is right again :)

  5. Oh bless her, it sounds like once you've got the bed guard sorted then she will be absolutely fine.

She looks so cute in her little cot bed and how adorable is her room? I love it.

  6. Wow her bed is so cute! All was going so well until the bump. I put a bd guard on my daughters bed and never had an accident luckily, hope all goes as well next time.

  7. Which bed guard do you have? We have the lindam ones and although the bit that is meant to hold the mattress in place is meant for a single bed if you take it off and just tuck the frame under the mattress it is pretty wedged. My 3.5 year old still has a bed guard now, I think it takes a few years to gain that awareness of space while you are asleep. Thank you for joining in our #HappyDaysLinky x

  8. Busby fell out of her cot the first night we took the bars off, but she hasn't since - they get used to it eventually :) Did she figure out that she could leave the cot? That's another fun adventure ;) haha
