26 WEEK PREGNANCY UPDATE

This week has been a bit tiring because Indie's been recovering from being poorly but I've got a little more of my energy back and I think that's partly due to the Iron tablets. I don't feel half as faint and weak as I have been feeling. My main symptom this week has been heartburn. I'm not sure if it's just down to pregnancy or whether it's part of the Iron tablet side effects (never knew it could cause heartburn) but apparently it can. I did start suffering quite bad at this stage of pregnancy with Indie though so I think it's probably a combination of the two.

I've weighed myself again this week and realised I've gained quite alot. I eat pretty well but whilst I was at my lowest energy level with Anaemia I was using sugar for energy and ate alot of sweet treats and sugary drinks to boost my energy levels so I just think it's a few weeks of that catching up with me. I'm still within the norm, but nearing the upper end. I think weight gain will probably settle down a little now that I'm eating my usual meals again. I'm quite motivated to eat a balanced diet and am trying to pack in lots of nutritious foods alongside my pregnancy cravings. Talking of cravings, the hot sauce phase has totally gone. It's probably for the best because I don't think my heartburn would do to well with Hot Sauce added to the mix! I've mainly had cravings for dairy over the past few weeks, I drink alot of milk and dairy anyway but in particular I'm craving chocolate milkshakes and thick chocolate or toffee yoghurt.

Movements this week have gone up a notch and the kicks are getting pretty big. I've been really considering booking in for another 4D scan now that baby is formed and has started gaining weight. I was lucky enough to see baby 3 times at hospital scans (my 12 week scan, 20 week scan and a placenta check scan a few days after that) but as those scans are to focus on the health and well-being of baby, it'll be nice to have a scan that's solely for us to see our baby and bond a little. I am so curious to know whether he will look similar to Indie; if he will have hair and if he will be a similar weight (especially now that he will be born a week before due date).

I've had a huge urge to clean and organise things this week. I've gone right through the kitchen cupboards and sorted everything we don't need and spring cleaned the bathroom and binned alot of our old storage (it looks a bit bare now but it's clean and clear). I feel like I've started nesting and have the sudden urge to get all our little DIY jobs finished and start preparing for the months ahead. It's been quite therapeutic actually because I love a clean and tidy house, it makes me feel like I've really got my stuff together if that makes sense. I'm certainly taking advantage of the fact that hubby has some extra time off to get bits done that I wouldn't be able to do whilst playing with Indie etc.

As I sit and type this I've got Indie beside me snoring away and the Christmas tree lights are on. We are so looking forward to Christmas Day and seeing Indie's face when she see's all of her new toys. It's crazy to think that this will be our last Christmas as a family of 3.

I hope you all have a lovely Christmas and get to spend it with those you hold most dear. I'll end with a bump photo for 26 weeks.

  1. I found iron tablets made a huge difference to my energy levels too. I don't dare get on the scales, I'm not sure I want to read the number! I'm also in the nesting phase, but finding it hard with a whirlwind of a toddler undoing all my hard work! Hope you all have a lovely Christmas x
