34 WEEK PREGNANCY UPDATE (4D SCAN PICS & BABY MEASURING 6LB 7OZ ALREADY)

This week I had my Glucose Tolerance Test for Gestational Diabetes and thankfully it came back perfectly fine. I had to go to the hospital at 8am, have bloods taken and then drink a sickly sweet syrup/glucose drink. I then had to sit in the waiting room for 2 hours and then have a second lot of bloods taken, all whilst having to fast from 11pm the night before. It wasn't a pleasant experience and I felt very weak and dizzy but it did rule out that concern which was good.

33 weeks 3 days

On Saturday I had a private Growth Scan where we discovered some interesting news. Firstly they confirmed that he is definitely a boy and that the water levels and babys health is all perfect. The interesting thing is that he is measuring 3 weeks ahead (an estimated 6lb 7oz at 33+5) and the sonographer said that she suggests I pass the growth report onto my consultant as she thinks I am more likely 36+6 rather than 34 and that my due date should be changed from 28th March to the 8th March! I originally thought my dates were wrong but didn't think they were this far out. I've got to get in touch with my midwife today to let her know although I'm 99% sure that the NHS don't change your due date and go by the results of your 12 weeks scan, regardless of growth. I've also got a GP this morning where I'm also going to mention it to see what he suggests. It's likely that my original 'period' dates are infact correct and that he is just measuring a little bit large so I'm not worried and am reassured that he is big and healthy.

We also got to see little man in 4D which was amazing. I'll share a few of the photos now and then the rest I'll share in a separate post in the next few days. It was amazing to see his little face, she also said he has loads of hair, just like Indie did.

With the Growth Scan results plotted on my Fundal Height chart (the circle being the growth scan results) it seems baby is growing at a steady rate along an above average line. If I made it to 40 weeks with him growing at the rate he is, he would weigh 10lb 11oz at term, hence the likelihood that they have my dates wrong. I'm kind of expecting to go into labour more towards the middle of March now and then have to go in for a C-Section straight away, given the fact that Indie was 8lb 3.5oz and I'm not really expecting a giant 10lb 11oz baby I think my dates are a little off.

Either way it is just a waiting game really. I'm not really feeling too much bigger than I was with Indie so I'm just going to listen to my body and if I start to feel huge and bigger than I did with my previous pregnancy and I feel I'm getting near the end a little early then I will push towards them looking into it a little more. Luckily, we're all ready for him either way.

I'll end with my bump photo for 34 weeks...

  1. Wow...always amazed by the 3D photos. What a wonderful thing. We had a 3D scan for both of our girls and I have put them in their own photo albums as a memory. Not long to go now...hope the rest of the pregnancy goes well! #MaternityMondays

  2. How exciting that baby might arrive sooner than you had thought. The 4D scan photos are amazing. Glad to hear little man is doing well. Let's hope your date are off, the thought of giving birth to a 10lb baby makes my eyes water. Good luck for the big day, whenever it may be :) xx #maternitymondays

  4. ooooo I really hope they change the date for you. it's awful near the end. I had both of mine at 38 weeks. I have no idea how women who go to 42 weeks manage it. Thanks for linking up #MaternityMondays
